No. 7 Oregon has quickly mastered the art of winning ugly.
Hawaii just wants to figure out a way to win.
For the second night in a row, both teams struggled defensively and on the mound, making early visits to the bullpen. That clearly favors the Ducks, who got a go-ahead two-run single from pinch hitter A.J. Balta in the seventh inning to help claim a 10-5 win over the Rainbow Warriors on Saturday night.

Hawaii (0-2) had its opportunities to end a nine-game losing streak to the Ducks (2-0), but couldn’t match the depth of Oregon’s bullpen, much to the dismay of a sellout crowd of 3,589 at Les Murakami Stadium.
After giving up a game-tying two-run single to UH freshman Marcus Doi in the fifth, reliever Darrell Hunter retired eight in a row before an error allowed Doi to reach in the eighth.
Sophomore Porter Clayton struck out Marc Flores to end the eighth and worked a perfect ninth to earn the save.
"We allowed the leadoff hitter on five times in the six innings they scored," Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso said. "That’s playing right into their hands because they’re so good when they get the leadoff hitter on base. They execute so well."
Trapasso knew he’d need his bullpen to eat up innings with junior Jarrett Arakawa on a strict pitch count.
Working his way back from a shoulder injury that caused him to miss the entire 2013 season, Arakawa labored through four innings, throwing 69 pitches.
He gave up four runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts in his first outing since the 2012 WAC tournament.
"He had some butterflies going in his first outing in two years and yet I thought he looked sharp as far as he was throwing free and easy," Trapasso said. "We’re going to see him increase his pitch count next weekend and we’re getting closer with him."
Two of the runs Arakawa gave up were unearned.
Hawaii’s surest defender from a year ago has been the opposite of that so far, as shortstop Austin Wobrock committed two more errors Saturday, leading to two Oregon runs.
Mitchell Tolman’s two-out RBI single in the first scored Aaron Payne, who was hit by a pitch. Kyle Garlick followed with a routine grounder to short that Wobrock bobbled, allowing a second run to score.
Josh Graham led off the second with a double and Austin Grebeck followed with a grounder to short that Wobrock threw wide of Doi at first, allowing Graham to cross the plate to make it 3-0.
Oregon also struggled defensively, committing four errors. The Ducks made up for it with 14 hits, as senior Tyler Baumgartner went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs and Tolman finished 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs.
"The fielding situation is an out-of-character thing for both of us," Trapasso said. "We’ll see that change."
Baumgartner made two key plays in right, including a diving catch to rob Kaeo Aliviado of extra bases in the third, saving at least one run.
Hawaii had two at-bats with the bases loaded in three consecutive innings. Flores hit a sacrifice fly off Oregon starter Jordan Spencer in the third and Aliviado hit a ball to the warning track in right-center in the fourth, plating a second run.
Doi finally delivered the hit to put up a crooked number in the fifth with a two-run single in the hole between short and third to score LJ Brewster and Wobrock and tie the score at 5-all.
Freshman Gordon Cardenas allowed four runs in three innings of relief to take the loss.
Doi finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Wobrock singled and scored twice.
Hawaii committed three errors for the second game in a row. It happened only once all of last season.
Junior left-hander Scott Squier takes the mound Sunday at 1:05 p.m. as Hawaii will try to avoid its third 0-3 start in the past six seasons.
