Allegiant Air expands L.A.-Honolulu service
Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air is expanding its service between Los Angeles and Honolulu to six days a week from June 4 to Aug. 12.
The discount carrier, which inaugurated the flight in October, currently flies twice a week between the two cities.
Allegiant said it is offering a sale fare for as low as $139 one way before the expanded service. Tickets are not available for all flights and must be purchased by April 15 for travel by May 11.
Drywall apprenticeship applicants sought
The Hawaii Carpenters Drywall Training Fund will accept applications next week for its drywall apprenticeship program.
The program gives participants "the skills, training and work experience they need for a rewarding career in the building industry," according to a news release from the Hawaii Carpenters Union.
The paid apprenticeship program is a combination of classroom hours and on-the-job training alongside industry veterans. Apprentices receive health and retirement benefits.
Applications will be accepted in person from Monday through Feb. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hawaii Carpenters Drywall Training Fund, 1311 Houghtailing St., Room 201.
All applicants must be 17 years or older, be able to lift 100 pounds, pass a basic math test and interview, and complete a pre-selection screening, according to the news release.
Applicants also must bring a photocopy of their high school diploma or equivalent, or any reference letters for prior experience within the trade, a photocopy of a legal photo identification and two legal-size self-addressed, stamped envelopes.
