5,800 acres of agricultural land put up for sale on Hawaii island
An affiliate of Lehman Bros. is trying to sell 5,880 acres on Hawaii island.
Broker Kennedy Wilson is marketing the collection of 76 lots in the Kau area.
The property is largely agricultural land used as pasture and for growing coffee and papaya.
There is also miles of ocean frontage, and Hawaii County has approved the development of 98 home sites on 2,022 acres.
The land, which is being offered without an asking price, was once owned or leased by Ka’u Sugar Co., which quit farming sugar cane in 1996 and later leased land to independent farmers.

Food & Wine magazine’s first Favorite Food Cities Survey has Honolulu in the running.
The magazine’s editors have chosen 40 U.S. cities for public voting, according to which city has the best-looking chefs, the most adventurous diners and other aspects of the dining scene and night life.

Tax Foundation of Hawaii has named Tom Yamachika interim president. He is an experienced tax attorney and has worked for the state Tax Department and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He also owned Aloha State Tax, a state tax consulting firm.
Outrigger Enterprises Group has announced the appointment of Pam Cabrera to director of marketing and sales for the company’s condominium resort division. She was previously general manager of the Outrigger Luana Waikiki. Her experience with the Outrigger also includes serving as assistant general manager, hotel manager, assistant manager and product manager as well as front desk clerk, in employee relations and as a staffing clerk.
