Wahine basketball team defeats Cal State Fullerton
Playing without star forward Kamilah Jackson for the first time this season, the Hawaii women’s basketball team got past Cal State Fullerton 65-52 on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Four players scored in double figures for the third-place Rainbow Wahine (13-10, 7-4 Big West), led by freshman guard Briana Harris’ 14 points off the bench on 5-for-5 shooting.
Without its top rebounder in Jackson — who suffered a right ankle injury in Thursday’s win over UC Riverside — UH nonetheless outrebounded Fullerton 42-32.
Sophomore Destiny King approached triple-double numbers with 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, wing Shawna Kuehu scored 12 and point guard Morgan Mason had 11 points and five rebunds. Reserve Ashleigh Karaitiana put together nine points and nine boards.
Guard Alex Thomas led CSF (9-14, 5-5) with 25 points on 15-for-19 free-throw shooting.
