High surf advisory issued for south-facing shores
An approaching southwest swell has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a high surf advisory.
The south-facing shores of all islands are covered in the advisory, which will go into effect 6 a.m. Friday and is scheduled through 6 p.m. Sunday. Forecasters expect wave heights of 6 to 8 feet.
Weather officials warn beachgoers to expect strong breaking waves, longshore and rip currents, which can make swimming difficult and dangerous.
