Humid, hazy weather returning
Muggy, voggy weather may stick around through at least the middle of next week, National Weather Service forecasters said.
The cooling northeast tradewinds will become light and shift to the southeast by the weekend, bringing hot, humid Kona weather and volcanic haze from the Big Island to the smaller islands.
Forecasters said we can expect clouds to build over leeward and interior sections during the day, possibly bringing afternoon showers. The daytime breezes from the sea will shift to land breezes at night blowing the clouds away from land.
The weather system northwest of the islands should reach Kauai by Sunday, bringing moisture and an increased chance of showers and southerly winds.
Forecasters expect hazy skies over Honolulu by Sunday night.
The muggy and hazy conditions may continue through at least Wednesday until the dissipating weather system moves away from the islands and tradewinds return in the second half of next week.
