Man’s body found floating in Kewalo Basin Harbor
Honolulu police opened an unattended-death case Thursday afternoon after a body was found floating in Kewalo Basin Harbor.
Police responded to a so-called suspicious-circumstances call around 3:15 p.m. near the shuttered Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant.
A man believed to be in his 50s was found floating lifeless in the water. City emergency medical services and fire crews were notified.
Police said there were no initial signs of foul play. The case has been turned over to homicide detectives.
2 motorcyclists hospitalized after accidents Christmas Eve
Two motorcyclists were injured in separate accidents Wednesday night.
Paramedics took a 45-year-old man to the hospital in serious condition after his motorcycle collided with an automobile at 6:44 p.m. at Salt Lake Boulevard and Kamehameha Highway, according to an Emergency Medical Services Division report. The man was wearing a helmet.
At 8:47 p.m. a 24-year-old man lost control of his motorcycle and crashed at Kapolei and Kualakai parkways, EMS said. He was also wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Waianae assault results in attempted-murder charge
A 45-year-old Kapolei man is under investigation for attempted murder following a Christmas Eve assault on a 21-year-old man in Waianae.
According to police, the suspect assaulted the victim with a dangerous instrument, resulting in serious bodily injury.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday along Farrington Highway.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder as well as an outstanding warrant.
Near drowning in Waikiki sends man, 67, to hospital
Paramedics took a 67-year-old man to the hospital in critical condition from the Trump Waikiki Hotel on Thursday morning.
The apparent near drowning happened at about 6:41 a.m., according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
