A 91-year-old man who was hit by an SUV near Makiki on Saturday and later died has been identified as Nobuo Yoshioka, of Honolulu.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office, who identified Yoshioka, said he died Tuesday. Autopsy results are pending.

Police said Yoshioka was hit by a Ford Escape driven by a 23-year-old man on Young Street at about 6:30 p.m.

It was not clear if Yoshioka, who was heading makai, was in a crosswalk. Police said the driver stopped to help in the scene of the accident, which occurred near Kaheka Street.

Yoshioka was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition. Police said they were notified of his death Wednesday morning.

Yoshioka’s death marks Oahu’s third pedestrian fatality this year, compared to one at this time last year, and the island’s fourth traffic fatality of 2015.
