The steady stream of improvements at Mandalay Bay continues with a pending $66 million expansion of its convention center that will add more than 350,000 square feet, putting it over 2 million total and advancing the facility from the seventh to the fifth largest in North America.

Also, the transformation of MBay’s THEhotel to Delano Las Vegas, first announced back in 2012 but postponed, has now been set for completion by Sept. 1. The new incarnation of the nongaming tower will feature a South Beach theme with upgraded rooms and yet another new night-life concept from the Light Group.

New brunches: New Sunday brunches are in place at the Venetian and Hard Rock. Brunch is $32.95 in Buddy V’s at the Venetian, with an unlimited-drink option for an additional $14.95. Unlimited menu items are $24.99 in Pink Taco at the Hard Rock, with an all-you-can-drink add-on for $9.99.

Slotzilla: After multiple delays, the new downtown mega zip line attraction has opened. Currently only the lower level is operating, while the higher, longer, faster "zoom lines" are expected to debut in coming weeks. Cost is $20 for the zip line and $30 for the zoom line.

ANSWER: With the closing of downtown’s El Sombrero, the title of oldest Las Vegas restaurant falls to Bob Taylor’s Original Ranch House, which has been open on the northwest side of town since 1955. Second oldest is now the Golden Steer, operating since 1958 on West Sahara Avenue, and the third-oldest restaurant is Macayo’s

Mexican Kitchen on East Charleston, which opened in 1960, preceding two other Macayo’s in Las Vegas.
