For the eleventh time in girls water polo history, the state champion will come out of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu.
Top seed Punahou and ‘Iolani meet in Saturday’s championship match of the Stanford Carr Development/HHSAA Girls Water Polo State Championship on the Big Island at Kamehameha-Hawaii.
In one semifinal, Punahou, the ILH champion, blew out Mililani 18-4.
Kelly Fricke scored four goals for the Buffanblu, who led 6-1 after one period and 11-1 at the half. Punahou, the six-time defending champion, also received three goals from Roxanna Kiessling.
The other semifinal featured ILH runner-up ‘Iolani, recording its third straight victory in the tournament with a 6-2 win over OIA champion and second-seeded Kahuku.
The Raiders got a pair of goals from Kiana Harpstrite and Mollie Taylor. The Red Raiders scored their only goals in the final period.
Punahou has handed ‘Iolani all three of their losses this season.
