A 42-year-old Pearl City woman who was arrested after her 20-month-old child ingested dangerous drugs while in her care has been released pending investigation.
The child was taken to a hospital Friday in critical condition.
According to police, the child was at the woman’s home when he got ahold of the drugs. Police did not specify what type of drug the child ingested.
The child’s mother was arrested the same day on suspicion of second-degree assault and released Saturday.
According to Hawaii Revised Statutes, a second-degree assault charge can be applied if a suspect "recklessly causes serious or substantial bodily injury to another."
The woman was also booked on a separate contempt allegation, for which she posted $150 bail.
