UH’s Gismervik sweeps three diving titles
Hawaii sophomore Amund Gismervik of Norway won two events Thursday to complete a sweep of the three dives in the two-day Hawaii Diving Invitational at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
Gismervik won the men’s 3-meter and platform events Thursday, adding to the 1-meter title he won Wednesday.
Hawaii sophomore Aimee Harrison of Canada added the women’s 1-meter title Thursday to the 3-meter win she posted Wednesday. The Rainbow Wahine’s Lauren Hall was second in the 1-meter, seven points behind Harrison.
Nebraska’s Nicole Schwery won the women’s platform.
Columbia and Minnesota State-Mankato also competed.
The invitational concludes the divers’ regular season. Next is the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Feb. 19-22 in Pasadena, Calif.
BYU-Hawaii, Chaminade improve to 4-1
Scott Friel had 11 points and 11 rebounds Wednesday as Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Dominican 87-82 in overtime in a Pacific West Conference men’s basketball game in Laie.
The Seasiders improved to 6-5 overall, 4-1 in the PacWest. The Penguins are 11-5 and 5-3.
