High temperature hits record levels again in Hawaii
The high temperature in Honolulu and Lihue tied records again on Wednesday, despite the return of cooling tradewinds. It’s the seventh of eight days in July that the heat tied or broke records in Hawaii.
The 91 degree high at the Honolulu Airport tied a record for the date set in 1995. In Lihue, the temperature of 87 degrees tied a record set in 1981.
On Tuesday, Hilo tied a record high of 88 degrees, set in 1980.
So far, Monday is the only day that a high temperature record was not tied or set this month.
In all, 22 high temperature records have been set or tied in Hawaii since June 13.
Forecasters expect near-record temperatures again through the weekend, with highs of 85 to 90 degrees through Sunday.
