The mother of missing 27-year-old Makawao woman Carly "Charli" Scott said Thursday night she summoned police to her home to report a matter.
It is unknown what development Kimberly Scott was reporting in the search for her daughter.
Wednesday night, Scott’s badly burned silver Toyota 4Runner with a distinctive silver skull on the grill was discovered at Peahi, near the "Jaws" surf break, Maui Police Lt. William Juan confirmed Thursday.
"Charli’s car was found at the top of Jaws," a Facebook page dedicated to finding her shared Wednesday. "It was found on its side — a husk. Burned."
She was last seen at about 8 p.m. Sunday at her sister’s Haiku home.
A fire helicopter assisted police Wednesday and Thursday in their search for Scott, a fire spokesman said.
Kimberly Scott reported at 10:45 p.m. Monday that her daughter was missing.
The mother told police her daughter is five months pregnant and that she was last seen driving her Toyota 4Runner.
Kimberly Scott had gone to her daughter’s Makawao home to check on her since she had not heard from her, police said.
Hawaii News Now reported Thursday that 24-year-old Steven Capobianco, Charli Scott’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her unborn child, said he took a polygraph test and was told by police he failed it.
He said he thought that it was just a tactic.
Capobianco said Scott drove to Keanae, near mile marker 20 along Hana Highway, to help him after his truck broke down Sunday.
She followed him back to Haiku, and he saw her in his rearview mirror until Twin Falls, when he sped up, he told Hawaii News Now.
Police have not made any arrests in the case.
Friends and family set up a "Find Charli Scott" Facebook page and organized searches.
Her dog, Nala, was found Monday by Nahiku Market, the Facebook page reported.
"Charli is out there for sure. … Nala would not leave a (conscious) Charli though so time is of the essence. Hang on Charli… there is an entire search party coming for you," it said.
