Injured paraglider helped out of Kahana Valley by firefighters
Firefighters helped a paraglider hike out of Kahana Valley after he was injured during an unplanned landing about 6 p.m. Monday.
The man, who is in his 30s, injured his ankle during his landing, said Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman. The man, who was paragliding with two other people, told authorities his chute malfunctioned.
Firefighters hiked into the valley and assisted him out, Seelig said.
The man was treated at the scene but refused to go to the hospital, the city Department of Emergency Medical Services said.
