Hawaii business climate the 4th worst in U.S.
Hawaii’s reputation as a state unfriendly to small business, remains steadfast.
The Aloha State ranks 47th out of the 50 states in a new report by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, based in Wash., D.C.
The SBE index, available online, ranks the 50 states according to 42 policy measures including tax, regulatory and government spending parameters.
“Policies clearly affect the environment for investment, entrepreneurship and small business growth,” said said SBE Council President and CEO Karen Kerrigan, in a statement.
The five most negative policy environments for entrepreneurs are No. 46, Minnesota, No. 47; Hawaii; No. 48, New York; No. 49, New Jersey, and in last place at No. 50, California.
The five best states for entrepreneurs, according to the index, are No. 1 S. Dakota, Nevada, Texas, Wyoming and Florida.
