Suppa, Leong are tops at Tournament of Champions
Punahou junior Kyle Suppa shot a 3-under-par 69 in the final round at last weekend’s Michelle Wie Hawaii State Junior Golf Association Tournament of Champions to win the oldest boys division by one shot.
Suppa, who will play in next month’s Sony Open in Hawaii, finished 36 holes at Wailea Emerald at 141. Colin Laszlo (70) was a shot back in the 15-18 division and Andrew Chin (74), the first-round leader, finished at 143.
Aiko Leong, another Punahou junior, fired 75 both days to beat ‘Iolani senior Rose Huang (74—151) by a shot in the oldest girls division.
Other TOC champions were:
» Malia Nam (70—149) and Evan Kawai (70—141) in 13-14s;
» Jennifer Koga (76—157) and Taylor John McGerity (75—149) in 11-12s;
» Shelby Keolanui (83—159) and Go Nakatsukasa (73—147) in 7-10s.
The HSJGA culminates its season by inviting all champions to the TOC, sponsored by Wie, a former HSJGA member. It is also the last opportunity to earn points toward "HSJGA Player of the Year" in each age division.

Others who earned their cards included Cheyenne Woods — Tiger Woods’ niece — and Japanese star Sakura Yokomine, who played in the Hawaii Pearl Open.
