The company that produces Chicken of the Sea canned tuna issued a limited recall of its 7-ounce cans of water-packed solid white albacore tuna after a labeling error was discovered.

The company that produces Chicken of the Sea canned tuna issued a limited recall of its 7-ounce cans of water-packed solid white albacore tuna after a labeling error was discovered.

Tri-Union Seafoods LLC said some batches of tuna are missing "contains soy" on the ingredient listing of their labels. A known allergen, soy could possibly trigger a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction in people with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy. The problem was found during an internal audit at a canning facility, the company said.

Distribution of the affected batches was limited to Costco stores in western states, including Hawaii. The recall is limited to Chicken of the Sea 7-ounce solid white albacore tuna sold as a multi-pack and distributed in October and November.

Consumers who purchased the product with the UPC code "0 48000 00097 2" and "Best By" dates between 10/01/16 through 11/09/16 are asked to return it to the Costco location where they purchased it for a full refund. The UPC code (also known as bar code) is found on the label of the product and the "Best By" date is printed on the bottom of the can.

No other products are affected by the recall.

Consumers who need more information can call the company’s 24-hour recall line at 1-877-843-6376.
