Former UH stars at Raiders Skills event
Former University of Hawaii stars Miah Ostrowski, Bill Amis and Zane Johnson will headline the fifth annual Hawaii Raiders Basketball Skills Challenge weekend.
The event, for boys and girls ages 6 to 17, will be held July 13-14 at McKinley gym. Sessions for beginners will be 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day, and sessions for advanced players will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. each day.

The event is held in association with the Derrick Low Hawaii Raiders Basketball Clinic. However, Low will not be available because he will be participating with the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA Summer League.
Wahine hoops camp starts today
The second Rainbow Wahine Basketball Camp of the summer gets under way today at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The two-day camp features a three-hour morning session for boys and girls ages 5-12 (9 a.m. to noon) and a four-hour afternoon session for campers 12-18 (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.) today and Sunday. Campers are promised individualized attention and a range of basic fundamental instruction from UH coach Laura Beeman and her staff.
Registration is $75 and includes a camp T-shirt. It will be just inside the Stan Sheriff Center security gate. Arrive up to an hour before your session of choice.

HGL playoff opens Sunday
The Hawaii Gridiron League begins its playoffs for the men’s division Sunday at T.C. Ching Field at the University of Hawaii.
In the 5 p.m. opener, Team Phyxious takes on the Stingrays. At 7:30 p.m., the Volcanoes begin their title defense against the Paniolos.
Play in the Hawaii Women’s Gridiron League inaugural season continues with two games. The first contest is at 11 a.m.
Boxing at Kalakaua gym today
Koichi Tanji of Kawano Boxing Club takes on Aubrey Huerbana of Palolo Boxing Club in today’s main event of the Hawaii Amateur Boxing card at Kalakaua District Park Gym. The first bout begins at 6:45 p.m. and includes fighters from Oahu and Maui. Admission is $10.
