The median price for single-family homes on Hawaii island and Kauai were mixed in November even as the Oahu market was climbing to a record high.
On Hawaii island, the median price — where half the homes are above and half below — rose 13.1 percent to $350,000 from $309,500 in November 2013, according to recent data from Hawaii Information Service. On Kauai, which has far fewer sales, the median price for single-family homes declined 15.4 percent to $499,000 from $589,500.
Condo prices were likewise mixed.
Hawaii island condo prices dropped 17 percent to $202,500 from $244,000 while Kauai condo prices jumped 37.1 percent to $397,500 from $290,000.
Sales on Hawaii island fell for both single-family homes and condos. Single-family home sales declined 13 percent to 141 from 162 and condo sales dropped 36.8 percent to 36 from 57.
On Kauai, single-family home sales rose 16.7 percent to 35 from 30 but condo sales sank 40.7 percent to 16 from 27.
Earlier this week, the Honolulu Board of Realtors announced that the median price for single-family homes on Oahu rose 5.2 percent to a record $719,500 due largely to diminishing inventory for lower-priced properties. Condo prices were up 3.9 percent to $343,000.
