Inouye released from hospital after fall at his Maryland home
Sen. Daniel K. Inouye sustained a minor cut to the back of his head following a fall at his home Thursday and was taken to the Bethesda Naval Hospital as a precautionary measure.
Inouye was released from the hospital and returned to his home in Maryland.
The 88-year-old Hawaii Democrat did not lose consciousness, a statement from his office said.
The World War II combat veteran wanted to put a bandage on and go to work. However, his family insisted he get it checked out.
Peter Boylan, Inouye’s spokesman, said the senator would be available if any votes are taken on Capitol Hill today.
Inouye is the Senate’s most senior member and, as president pro tempore of the Senate, is third in the line of succession to the presidency.
