Man due in court over assault on officer
A preliminary hearing is scheduled in Honolulu District Court on Thursday to determine whether a 45-year-old Kapolei man will stand trial for allegedly attacking a 27-year-old police officer last week.
Lionel Antonio was charged Sunday with assaulting a police officer and harassment. His bail was set at $15,000.
Police said the incident occurred at 4:30 p.m. Friday when the officer was attempting to arrest the suspect in connection with another offense.
The suspect was arrested at Enterprise and Roosevelt avenues a few blocks from his residence.
A District Court preliminary hearing is to determine if there is cause to send a felony case to Circuit Court for trial.
