Repairs are under way for a historic downtown Honolulu building that houses the Hawaii Supreme Court.

Aliiolani Hale was built in 1874. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The state Judiciary says restoration and repairs are scheduled to last through the end of the year. The work includes the roof, facade and clock tower. Crews will also fix a broken walkway and interior spaces damaged by water and termites.

The building also houses the Supreme Court clerk’s office, a law library and the King Kamehameha V Judiciary History Center.

Much of the noisy work will take place in the evenings and on weekends.

Offices will be open as usual. But public use of the building for weddings and other functions may be limited during construction.
