Se Ri Pak isn’t ready to give in to her younger countrywomen just yet.
The pioneer of women’s golf in South Korea, the 36-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down after recording her third straight top-10 of the season at the LPGA Lotte Championship on Saturday at Ko Olina Golf Club.
Pak, who held a share of the lead after the opening 18 holes, bounced back from a disappointing 74 on Friday and closed with three birdies and no bogeys on the back nine to finish 3 under for the day and 6 under for the tournament.
"Especially in the third on the green was really hurting me and I missed a couple that I couldn’t get back," Pak said. "I made a strong comeback."
She could have been describing her 2014 season. Pak already has more top-10s this year than she had in 2013. After a season-worst 58th place at the JTBC Founders Cup, the 25-time winner finished sixth at the Kia and fourth at Kraft before a ninth-place finish in Hawaii, where she placed 28th last year.
"My game has gotten back and I feel like I’ve put everything together, so I felt really good coming in," she said. "At the same time I have to work on my short game a lot and get better and getting up and down and not making huge mistakes."
Sixteen years ago, Pak joined the LPGA Tour as the only member from South Korea. A total of 29 South Koreans teed it up this week at Ko Olina.
