Erdman named Small Biz Person of Year
Dave Erdman, president and chief executive officer of PacRim Marketing Group Inc. and PRTech LLC, was honored as the Small Business Person of the Year for Hawaii at the 27th Annual SBA (Small Business Administration) Small Business Awards & SmallBiz Editor’s Choice Awards held Thursday in Honolulu. The National Small Business Person of the Year will be named in Washington, D.C., this week during Small Business Week.
Erdman was nominated by Melitajean "Mel" Racadio, assistant vice president and senior business banking officer for Central Pacific Bank, for being an advocate for Hawaii’s small businesses and travel and tourism and retail industries, as well as for his businesses’ success and for meeting SBA Awards criteria.
"Being named Hawaii’s Small Business Person of the Year is an honor and validates 25 years of business success and working as an advocate for international tourism from Asia," Erdman said.

Hawaii State FCU alters logo, boosts assets
Hawaii State Federal Credit Union updated its logo and launched a new advertising campaign Monday following a period of rapid growth at the financial institution.
Hawaii State FCU, Hawaii’s oldest chartered credit union, reported a 7.1 percent growth in assets and a 5.2 percent growth in members over the past year. The credit union attributed the growth in part to its expanded charter extending membership to more employee groups. A number of businesses and nonprofits have joined, including The Limtiaco Consulting Group, Ashford & Wriston LLP, Friends of the Library and Honolulu Zoological Society, according to a news release from Hawaii State FCU. Since the charter change, more than 80 entities have added and offered the benefit of membership with Hawaii State FCU to their employees.
The credit union logo’s red, blooming hibiscus, the state flower that has been part of the logo since 1978, has been modernized.
