Man charged with robbing Kapahulu bank
A 37-year-old man was in police custody Saturday morning awaiting a court appearance after being charged with robbing a Kapahulu bank.
Tavita Tu, who did not give police an address, was arrested Friday at the main police station and charged that night at 10 with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $150,000.
Police said a man entered the American Savings Bank on Kapahulu Avenue at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday and handed the teller a demand note before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
Later the same day, police released a security camera image and video of the man.
Police said Tu was identified during the course of the investigation. He is scheduled for court on Monday.
