Alert beachgoers pulled an unconscious 76-year-old woman from waters off Ulua Beach in South Maui on Saturday morning.
Maui firefighters responding to a 10:37 a.m. emergency call arrived to find people at the beach already performing CPR on the woman, who had been spotted unresponsive and floating on the surface with snorkel gear.
The woman, a visitor from Pennsylvania, was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in undisclosed condition.
Brush fire in Lahaina contained
Maui firefighters contained a 1-acre brush fire Saturday near the Lahaina Aquatic Center.
The fire was first reported at about 2:05 p.m. on the mauka side of the center. A nearby construction company used a water tanker and heavy equipment to keep the blaze from spreading.
Firefighters brought the fire under control by 2:43 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
