USC incoming freshman WR injures knee, out season
LOS ANGELES >> Southern California incoming freshman receiver Steven Mitchell will miss the 2013 season after tearing ligaments in his right knee.
Mitchell, from Mission Hills, was hurt during voluntary workouts at USC today.
He is the second receiver the Trojans have lost this offseason to a knee injury. Junior George Farmer was hurt during spring practice and is also expected to the miss the season.
USC will enter the season with five scholarship receivers, including All-American Marqise Lee. Nelson Agholor was listed as the other starter after spring practice
De’Von Flournoy, Victor Blackwell and Darreus Rogers are backups, and the Trojans have talented tight ends in Xavier Grimble, Randall Telfer and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick.
The Trojans open at Hawaii on Aug. 29.
