Talk will share Lanai’s rich heritage
The story of Lanai is often overlooked, but Kepa Maly will tell you the island is rich in history, lore and tradition.
Maly, executive director of the Lana‘i Culture & Heritage Center, will present "Aloha Lana‘i a Kaulula‘au" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Bishop Museum’s Atherton Halau. The cost is $10; free for museum members.
Maly was raised on Lanai, learning its history from the longtime Hawaiian families who lived there, according to a news release. In 2006 he and his wife, Onaona, returned to Lanai to help develop the heritage center. For more information, visit www.lanaichc.org.
