Man injured while surfing at Ala Moana
A surfer was seriously injured around 1 p.m. Sunday off Ala Moana Beach Park while waiting to catch a wave, Emergency Medical Services said.
Two other surfers helped the man, 41, while a third called 911 on a cellphone he had with him in the water, EMS said.
Ocean Safety Department rescuers on a watercraft took the injured man to shore where paramedics treated him. He was transferred in serious condition to a trauma center.
Traffic stop results in car theft, drug arrest
A routine traffic stop in Waikiki early Sunday led to the arrest of a Kapolei man on allegations of car theft and drug violations.
According to police, the suspect, 24, was pulled over for a traffic violation around 4:30 a.m. Officers found that the vehicle had been reported stolen and that the suspect was possessed illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Salt Lake man accused of property damage
Police arrested a Salt Lake man for alleged criminal property damage stemming from an argument with his live-in girlfriend.
Police said the man, 42, and the woman, 39, who live together, were arguing Tuesday when the suspect entered the woman’s vehicle and damaged property. The woman had minor injuries.
The man fled but was found Sunday at a Best Western hotel on North Nimitz Highway. He was arrested on suspicion of first- and third-degree criminal property damage and unauthorized entry into a motorized vehicle.
