Korean woman nearly drowns at Kaanapali hotel pool
A newlywed visitor from South Korea was taken Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition after being pulled from the bottom of a swimming pool Monday night at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali.
The 27-year-old woman was submerged in the pool for approximately three minutes before she was pulled to the surface by her husband and a hotel security officer around 10:30 p.m. The security guard performed CPR with the assistance of other hotel personnel until paramedics arrived.
Paramedics found the woman “in an improved condition but in critical respiratory distress,” according to the Maui County Paramedics Association.
