Classes focus on variety of Korean food
Need to decompress from the holiday hustle and bustle? Take refuge in one of Walter Rhee’s cooking classes or food tours. Focus on recipes for kim chee and other Korean foods, or tour Chinatown to discover the best eating places.

» Korean Side Dishes (Namul and Beyond) (4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday): The lineup includes sauteed eggplant, egg roll, steamed egg, zucchini with salted shrimp, sauteed soy sprouts, pickled radish, candied anchovies and taegu.
» Asian Appetizers and Meals for the Holidays in 19 Minutes or Less (2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday): Among the dishes are furikake noodles with tsuyu, Walter’s dry saimin, hand roll sushi spread, instant tender kalbi, Vietnamese-style look fun and boiled shrimp with Asian cocktail sauce.
» The Only Korean Cooking Class You Will Ever Need (4 to 6 p.m. Dec. 27): Learn the surprisingly simple basics of bulgogi, barbecue pork, rice dumpling soup, spicy fried rice cake, chap chae and sauteed spicy cucumber.
» How to Make Kim Chee and Related Dishes (2:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 28): Learn to make kim chee from scratch, as well kim chee noodles, kim chee stew, kim chee pancake, kim chee stir-fry and kim chee fried rice.
» Taste of Chinatown Eateries Tour (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Dec. 28): What to eat, where to go, how to eat, how to recognize a good restaurant. Rhee also shares historical, cultural and food science facts.
