Rail is coming to Waikele Center!
Before you get too alarmed, this rail is uncontroversial and will likely garner 100 percent support of diners at Genki Sushi, which rolled out its first double-rail delivery system at Ala Moana Center last summer and is now bringing it to the Leeward side.
Utilizing the latest magnetic technology, the rail system allows diners to place their orders at a touch-screen panel, then have their meal arrive by miniature Bullet Train, F-1 Race Cars, Surf Board, Space Shuttle and more, sure to be popular with keiki.
No more waiting and watching the old conveyor belts make their slow loop, and seeing someone else pick up the one dish you were ogling.
Where the Ala Moana store has one rail system in place, the Waikele store, with seats for 98, will have three systems installed to deal with the traffic.
The newly renovated Waikele Genki Sushi, at 94-799 Lumiaina St., will open Friday, with hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. Call 678-3180.
