More than 2,000 box jellyfish counted in Waikiki
Swarms of box jellyfish came ashore in Waikiki and Ala Moana today, with more than 2,000 counted in Waikiki.
Paramedics were responded to two reports of allergic reations to the stings in Waikiki involving a 6-year-old girl and 5-year-old girl. Neither girl needed to be taken to the hospital.
Lifeguards at Ala Moana Beach Park reported 230 box jellyfish.
There were 115 stings reported at Waikiki and 3 stings at Ala Moana.
The box jellyfish influx is expected to continue Wednesday.
