Hawaii sweeps Cal Poly in volleyball
Junior hitter Emily Hartong put down 14 kills and sophomore hitter Jane Croson added 13 to lead No. 9 Hawaii over Cal Poly in a Big West women’s volleyball match tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center 25-19, 25-17, 25-19.
It was the 14th consecutive victory for the Rainbow Wahine (21-2, 14-0 Big West) with all 17 players seeing action. Hartong was in on four of the team’s eight blocks in the 87-minute win.
The victory clinches the Big West title and automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.
Holly Franks led the Mustangs (3-21, 2-10) with eight kills. Steffi Sooter had a match-high 10 digs.
Hawaii next hosts Brigham Young-Hawaii Thursday at 7 p.m. The Seasiders are ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II.
