Don’t bother giving the Mililani softball team directions to Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium — the program knows the route all too well.
The OIA champion Trojans were awarded the top seed for the Datahouse/HHSAA Softball State Championships beginning Tuesday on the UH campus in Manoa. Mililani has been in every state tournament since it moved to the home field of the Rainbow Wahine in 1998. The Trojans have not missed a state tournament since 1992 and have won three titles.
The defending state champions will open up on Wednesday against Lahainaluna or Kapolei. ILH champion Kamehameha drew the second seed and will play Keaau or Kaiser. Baldwin is the third seed and will get the winner between Campbell and Leilehua, and Maryknoll and Pearl City will tangle on Tuesday for the right to play BIIF champion Waiakea.
The semifinals are Thursday, with the championship on Friday.
Pac-Five earned the top seed in the Division II tournament, which will be held at McKinley until it moves to Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium for the semifinals and finals.
Waimea is the second seed, followed by Aiea and Kamehameha-Hawaii. Defending champion Nanakuli faces Konawaena in the first round and will have to play the Wolfpack in the second if it advances.
The New City Nissan/HHSAA Boys Volleyball State Championships move to Oahu for the Final Four on Friday and Saturday, with King Kekaulike playing Punahou at Moanalua and Na Menehune hosting Kamehameha-Hawaii.
The championship will be Saturday at the Blaisdell Arena.
Hawaii Baptist earned the top seed in the Division II tournament, followed by Hana, Castle and Hawaii Prep. The first round will be split between Moanalua and Farrington, with the second round at Farrington and the championship at the Blaisdell.
The Island Movers/HHSAA Track and Field Championships will be held at Maui’s War Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday.
