Shoe designs could win 1 school $50,000
Vans, the surf- and skate-inspired shoe and apparel company, is offering high school students the chance to win $50,000 for their school’s arts program.
Vans is seeking artists from 3,000 schools across the country to participate in its Custom Culture design competition, which aims to encourage student creativity and bring awareness to the need for school arts program funding across the country.
Participating schools receive four pairs of blank Vans sneakers to be customized in four themes: art, music, action sports and "local flavor." The winning school will be decided by celebrity judges at a June event in New York. Winners might also see one of their designs for sale in select Vans stores.
The registration period for schools is Jan. 5 to Feb. 13. For more details, watch an informational video at goo.gl/JOsBQQ.
