Let’s hope Rainbow Warriors aren’t perfect
The University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors have one more chance to rescue themselves from a perfect season — of losing.
With an 0-11 record, the team faces Army this Saturday, which hasn’t been doing so well itself. Army has two more games to go and is 3-7 among the major independents. If it beats Hawaii, that would leave the Warriors at 0-12 — and the opportunity to be philosophical about how losing while still trying hard is a way to build character. That might well be the takeaway lesson this season, whatever happens in the last game.
Nanakuli’s long wait for a library
Nanakuli has needed and wanted a public library since the 1970s, and now the community is finally in line for a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as much more than a receptacle for books.
The library, which should break ground near Nanaikapono Elementary School, will offer children and the broader community all manner of reading material, Internet access, a sound room for recording, public meeting spaces and an outdoor venue for movie nights. We’d say good things come to those who wait, but 40 years is ridiculous.
