Kauai sex assault suspect arrested in Washington state
A U.S. Marshals task force arrested a Kauai man wanted for sex assault in Tacoma, Wash. Friday morning.
Joel Ibana, 29, was wanted on a bench warrant for six counts of first-degree sex assault and one count of third-degree sex assault involving a 14-year-old girl in April 2010, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.
The Kauai County Prosecutors Office requested the assistance of the Hawaii Fugitive Task Force, which developed information that he was living in Puyallup, Wash., the news release said.
U.S. Marshals in Tacoma arrested him at 7:30 a.m. Friday without incident and taken to the Tacoma Police Department.
Bail was set at $100,000 and Ibana is awaiting extradition to Kauai.
