A cold front moving down the island chain is forecast to bring cloudy skies and scattered showers to Kauai Friday afternoon and move over Oahu Friday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for the island of Oahu that expired at 10:15 p.m. Spotters detected heavy showers and ponding on roads in Kailua at 8:12 p.m. Friday. Kaneohe, Ahuimanu and Heeia were also included in the advisory.

The weather service issued a flood advisory for Maui County that expired at 11:30 p.m. after heavy rains hit parts of Molokai at 8:24 p.m. The rains are expect to head to Hawaii island Saturday into Sunday.

Breezy north-northeast winds should send most of the showers to north and east slopes, but some showers could move over other parts of the islands.

More typical tradewind weather is likley to follow after the front passes with the usual windward and mauka showers in the morning through the Memorial Day weekend.

The forecast for south shores of Oahu calls for scattered showers Friday night with sunny and mostly clear skies through Memorial Day.

Winds should be light, about 10 to 15 miph, from the northeast. Highs will range from 74 to 84 degrees, dropping to a colol 61 to 71 degrees at night.

Surfers can expect a series of south and north swells arrive with wave faces of 3 to 5 feet Friday, rising to 4 to 6 feet on Saturday. Sunday and Monday coulde see a reinforcement swell arriving on the south shore that will bring wave heights to near-advisory levels on Monday.
