A 24-year-old Wahiawa man is dead and three other people were injured following three separate motorcycle and moped accidents Sunday.

Speed is considered a possible factor in the death of  Thomas Lund who was killed when the 2014  Kawasaki motorcycle he was driving crashed into an utility pole along Mililani Cemetery Road around 3:42 p.m. Sunday.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy.

Lund was traveling south on the Mililani Cemetery Road near the Waiawa Prison Road when he crossed the center line. When the motorcyclist saw an oncoming car, police said, he tried to get back into his lane, but lost control of his bike. The motorcyclist skid on the gravel on the shoulder of the road and hit a pole.

Paramedics took Lund to the Pali Momi Medical Center, where he died.

This was Oahu’s 23 traffic death, compared to 24 at the same time a year ago.

Earlier Sunday, at 11:45 a.m., a woman in her 20s was critically injured when the moped she was operating collided with a truck on the North Shore, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

EMS said the incident happened near 59-055 Kahae Road in Pupukea.

Also Sunday, just after 5 p.m., a man and woman, both 23, were injured in a motorcycle crash on the H-1 freeway’s eastbound Kalihi onramp.

Paramedics took both victims to hospital in stable condition.
