A second Janet Jackson concert at Blaisdell Arena has been announced for Nov. 13, and Janet Jackson’s Nov. 12 concert has sold out more than 24 hours before a reserved pre-sale window for Hawaii residents was to begin.

American Express Card members were able to purchase tickets for Jackson’s Nov. 12 concert beginning June 15. The singer’s official website also offers a "Special Pre-sale Access"code to those who purchase a T-shirt and CD or album package.

The concerts are being presented by Live Nation, Rhythm Nation, Tommy Meharey and BAMP Project. Flash Hansen, publicist for BAMP, said the promoters were "caught a little off guard" by the pace of ticket sales for the Nov. 12 concert, and scrambled to make a second concert available.

"This is the first show to sell out in the entire tour. It is the fastest-selling show in the tour," Hansen said.

According to Hansen, receipts from the first wave of ticket sales indicate that most of the American Express cardholders buying tickets for the Honolulu concert are Hawaii residents. "Any local person with an AmEx car could purchase tickets," he explained. From our information, it was largely a locals-only AmEx sale."

No more than approximately 6 percent of ticket-buyers via American Express held out-of-state zip codes, Hansen said, and many of them could have been military residents.

"Clearly, it was a rapid sell-out," Hansen said. "Those who purchased AmEx tickets bought a million of them."

He also noted, however, that most tickets were sold in groups of two and four, so that there is little indication that scalpers scooped up the seats.

PRE-SALE TICKETS for the added concert on Nov. 13 will be available to Hawaii residents and American Express cardholders simultaneously, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19.

"It’s synchronized," Hansen said.

"The whole point of the second show is that we need to ssatisfy the locals-only pre-sale," he said. "We’re doing what we can to get it up and get it out for locals."

Beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, through 10 p.m. Sunday, June 21, tickets for the Nov. 13 concert are scheduled to go on sale for credit card holders with a Hawaii ZIP code and American Express card-holders. In-person purchases at the Blaisdell box office might require a Hawaii ID, but that is not always necessary, Hansen said.

Ticket prices for the Nov. 12 and 13 shows range from $20 to $175.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Monday.

Ticket information is available at www.janetjackson.com, www.bampproject.com, www.ticketmaster.com, Hawaii Ticketmaster outlets — including the Blaisdell box office — and Walmart stores on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii island. Charge by phone is also available at (800) 745-3000 or (866) 448-7849.

Jackson, 49, a Grammy Award-winning musical artist, will appear in Honolulu as part of her Unbreakable World Tour. She has performed twice before in Hawaii, both times at Aloha Stadium, in 1999 and 2002.

She has sold more than 160 million records and won six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and received an Academy Award nomination.
