Kudos to Campaign Spending Commission
The state Campaign Spending Commission upheld the public interest by voting 3-1 to refer complaints against the Pacific Resource Partnership Political Action Committee for possible criminal prosecution.
City prosecutors will decide whether criminal charges are warranted over how the PAC reported expenditures to keep former Gov. Ben Cayetano from winning the Honolulu mayor’s race in 2012, or whether the claims do not rise to the level of criminality and should be handled by the commission. This further investigation is warranted in a case of such broad impact.
Fisherman’s Wharf just a memory now
No question, it had deteriorated into a graffitied, dilapidated eyesore since being closed five years ago.
But those who recall patronizing the once-famous Fisherman’s Wharf restaurant — especially in its glory days — will forever hold fond memories of the iconic, glass-walled structure overlooking Kewalo Basin Harbor.
The Kakaako building was demolished Thursday, after at least one serious look at revitalizing a site ultimately doomed by too-costly infrastructure and safety upgrades.
Now comes the waiting, to see what landowner Office of Hawaiian Affairs envisions for the property.
In the meantime, enjoy the openness while it’s there.
