Lightning strikes 11 planes landing at Salt Lake City Airport
SALT LAKE CITY >> Traffic at Salt Lake City International Airport is back to normal after lightning struck about a dozen inbound planes Wednesday.
Spokeswoman Barbara Gann says ten Delta flights and one United Airlines flight were struck.
She says occasional strikes are normal but adds that 11 instances in one day is unusually high.
Gann said she doesn’t know where the planes were when the lightning hit.
Some Thursday evening and Friday morning flights were cancelled as maintenance crews checked on the airliners.
