Botelho stepping down as ILH executive director
Don Botelho is stepping down after 13 years as executive director of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu, it was confirmed today.
Members of the private school ILH were notified by Suzy Travis, chairwoman of the ILH Board.
Plans call for Botelho, 83, to mentor interim director Georges Gilbert until a permanent successor is named.
Travis told ILH members a committee is being formed to conduct a search for Botelho’s successor.
Botelho took over the ILH in 2003 after retiring as Pac-Five’s football coach of 29 years. He served as the athletic director at Mid-Pacific Institute for 28 years.
“Although it will be difficult to fill Don’s shoes, we believe his willingness to help transition as new executive director will ensure that the office continues to operate well, while serving our member schools’ athletic programs and its student athletes,” Travis said in a memo to ILH members.
