Fire heavily damages unoccupied Maui house
A Maui fire inspector is investigating a fire that heavily damaged an unoccupied wooden structure Monday in Haiku.
Fire crews from Paia, Makawao, and Kahului responded to 460 Haiku Road, and the first engine on scene found the structure over 50 percent involved.
The wooden structure was about 2,000 square feet in size, and there were no one living there, fire officials said. The fire was considered contained at 1609 hours.
