Travelers in need of U.S. passports can still get them at the Hawaii State Library, but hours of availability are being cut back as of June 2.
Weekday service at the library’s Federal Documents Section on the second floor will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a two-hour cut per day. Saturday hours will remain the same, 9 a.m. to noon.
Stewart Chun, head of the documents section, said the popularity of the service and the time required to provide it have grown beyond the capacity of the section.
