Brush fire breaks out in old macadamia nut field in Wailuku
Maui firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire in a field near Kahekili Highway and Makaala Drive around 9:22 p.m. Friday.
Fire crews arrived on scene around 9:34 p.m. and found one-fourth of an acre of grass on fire in an old macadamia nut field about a quarter-mile mauka from the highway.
No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
The fire was extinguished at 10:25 p.m.
The cause was undetermined, Maui fire officials said.
