For gifts, think inside the box set
Not many people realize that before Black Friday comes Indecision Monday, Confusion Tuesday and Stumped Wednesday. It’s all those the days before you head out shopping where you try to decide on the right gift for those on your shopping list.
One solution is to give one of the many DVD boxed sets now available. Because the sets cover everything from history to horror, there are plenty of potential presents.
The following is a look at some of the DVD boxed sets available in stores and online and the suggested retail price — but remember the sets are often available at a reduced sale price.

» "Agatha Christie’s Poirot: Complete Cases Collection" ($349.99): This set can solve the gift-buying mystery. Includes all 13 series with David Suchet as the famed sleuth.
» "Ancient Aliens: The Complete Seasons 1-6" ($99.98): The History Channel series looks at the possibilities that human history could have been influenced by visitors from other worlds.

» "Batman: The Complete Television Series" ($199.70, DVDs only): Fans have been waiting for more than four decades for the series to be available. Not only does the boxed set include all 120 episodes of the program starring Adam West, but there are also bonus extras including a toy replica of the Batmobile from the show.
» "The Brady Bunch" ($21.99 each): Technically, it’s not a boxed set, but all five seasons of the family comedy starring Robert Reed and Florence Henderson are being released individually. The story about a man named Brady and a lovely lady runs more than 50 hours.
» "Downton Abbey Seasons 1, 2, 3 & 4" ($89.99): Here’s a pick for the person who loves British soap operas. Catch up with the family that has become a sensation on British TV and American PBS.
» "Halloween: The Complete Collection" ($169.99): Shopping can be scary. This set contains all of the "Halloween" feature films, plus a limited edition 40-page book.
» "How I Met Your Mother: The Whole Story — Seasons 1-9" ($179.98): The box set includes the entire story of how a couple came together and the people who were there for them on the journey. Comes with a "Bro Code Playbook."
» "Jeeves & Wooster Complete Collection" ($59.99): Before he was Dr. House, Hugh Laurie starred with Stephen Fry in this adaptation of P.G. Wodehouse’s timeless tales about a boneheaded aristocrat and his brilliant valet. There are 23 episodes in the series.
» "The Jeffersons: The Complete Series" ($229.99): Move on up to buy this set that includes 253 episodes from the 11 seasons the TV comedy was on the air.
» "The Office: The Complete Series" ($199.98): It’s time to check the office supplies with every episode in the NBC series that ran from 2005-2013. Steve Carell stars.
» "Pee-wee’s Playhouse: The Complete Series" ($149.99): All of the episodes of the series have been remastered for the Blu-ray release. Not only does it include the adventures of Pee-wee, Miss Yvonne, Cowboy Curtis and the rest of the gang, but it also has 10 behind-the-scenes featurettes.
» "Psych: The Complete Series" ($199.98): This USA Network series was about a detective who pretends to have psychic abilities to solve cases. James Roday, Dule Hill and Corbin Bernsen star.
» "The Red Skelton Show: The Early years 1951-1955" ($59.97): Features 90 episodes of the series on 11 DVDs, with episodes unseen since their original broadcast 60 years ago.
» "RENO 911! Complete Uncensored Series" ($46.99): Along with six seasons of the comedy series comes audio commentary on 32 episodes, deleted scenes and outtakes.
» "Sherlock: The Complete Seasons 1-3" ($197.50): Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman play Holmes and Watson in this modern adaptation of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective series. Also in the set are limited edition art cards and busts of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson.
» "The Sopranos: The Complete Series" ($279.98): It’s an offer you can’t refuse. Fifteen years after making its debut and changing TV, all 86 episodes of the award-winning series are in one set.
» "Stanley Kubrick: The Masterpiece Collection" ($199.99): Includes eight Kubrick classics as well as the newly produced documentary "Kubrick Remembered." Movies featured include "Lolita," "A Clockwork Orange" and "Full Metal Jacket."
» "True Blood: The Complete Series" ($249.99): Over the course of seven seasons, the HBO series showed how being a vampire can be a very sexy thing. Extras include audio commentaries and a behind-the-scenes feature.
» "Upstairs, Downstairs: The Ultimate Collection" ($199.99): Includes all five seasons of the British series that offered a look at the rich and those who work for them long before "Downton Abbey" came along.
» "WKRP in Cincinnati: The Complete Series" ($139.99): Get the Fever, Dr. Johnny Fever. The comedy set in the Ohio city was on the air from 1978 to 1982. Although it’s a comedy, the series touched on serious issues from race relations to religion. Also includes some of the top tunes of that era.
» "The Wonder Years Complete Series" ($249.95): All 115 episodes of the series TV Guide called one of the top 20 shows of the 1980s, comes in a metal replica of a school locker. In addition, there are bonus features, including the first cast reunion in 16 years. One of the trademarks of the series was its use of music, and the episodes contain more than 300 songs.
» "Yu-Gi-Oh!" ($229.64): The series, based on the manga series and playing card franchise, follows the adventures of a boy named Yugi and his friends who love the newest card game that is sweeping the nation. Contains all five seasons.
