Maryland offers scholarship to departing UH point guard
Departing University of Hawaii point guard Keith Shamburger said he has been offered a scholarship by Maryland.
On his Twitter account, "@MagicShammm", Shamburger wrote Tuesday, "Maryland offered today #terps."
The Terps have two scholarships open, the Baltimore Sun reported.
Shamburger would be eligible to play immediately if he graduates from the University of Hawaii.
The Sun said he would likely play behind freshman Melo Trimble, if he attends Maryland.
Shamburger, who came to UH from San Jose State, led the Big West Conference in assists for the 2013-14 season, averaging 5.4 a game. His assist-to-turnover average was 2.7, third best in the conference. He led the Rainbow Warriors in minutes played, averaging 32.3 per game and free throw shooting percentage (83.2). He averaged 9.3 points per game.
